May 20, 2025 – Former Tobago Tourism Agency CEO Louis Lewis has voiced support for a Sandals resort in Tobago, calling it a smart move to boost tourism and the local economy. Now leading the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, Lewis shared his views at the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Marketplace in Antigua. He said a high-profile brand like Sandals could attract more flights, make the airport more viable, and create stronger ties with agriculture and other sectors. He noted that the resort could help generate foreign exchange and reduce Tobago’s reliance on the domestic market. His remarks come after Sandals Resorts Executive Chairman Adam Stewart visited Tobago on April 7 for meetings with the THA, tourism stakeholders, and then Prime Minister Stuart Young, which ended with a signed resolution to explore the resort’s development.
