Farmers Dealing With Heat

Ramesha Radgman, President of the Argyle Farmers Development Group stated the training program gained a different response as persons return to learn additional information after receiving refreshments. Radgman added the arm of the training program led by Marcus Mycoo, Lead Consultant and Chairman of the Mar Vista Institute for Agriculture Training embarked on high productivity and greater yield.

Due to the heat, Radgman stated at yesterday’s demonstration that farmers were very dehydrated and were continuously in need of water to do their days tasks. Former Dean of the Faculty of Food and Agriculture in the University of the West Indies Professor Wayne Ganpat, stated the island’s shifting atmospheric weather is causing a crisis of drought and excessive heat, changing things in the agriculture sector. 

According to Professor Ganpat, farmers must learn new skills to continue farming successfully during the heat wave. Professor Ganapat states that farmers need to advocate to the Ministries to assist in coping with drought.
