Waste management in Trinidad and Tobago remains a significant issue, according to the Director of the Tobago Recycling Resource Initiative (TRRI), Shawn Roberts, who believes the government is not fully committed to addressing the matter. He attributes part of the problem to the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), stating that while the EMA should function as an oversight body for waste management, it instead attempts to control stakeholder operations, complicating and frustrating the process.
