Trha Denies Disruptions to Dialysis Services in Tobago and Announces Expanded Roxborough Unit to Double Patient Capacity With New Shift System.

The Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) has denied any reports of disruptions to dialysis treatment. This comes following a social media post from Minority Leader Kelvon Morris alleging that dialysis services were disrupted due to equipment failure and mismanagement. According to the TRHA, one dialysis machine at Scarborough General Hospital recently underwent scheduled maintenance, but all other machines remain operational, allowing patients to receive care. They reported that Scarborough Health Centre is also fully equipped with 12 dialysis chairs, including two for patient isolation. To further improve service, the TRHA announced that the Roxborough Dialysis Unit has expanded its hours. Starting February 10th, the unit operates two shifts, from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, and offers additional dialysis days on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. This change doubles patient capacity and helps reduce travel for patients from the eastern region. With five functional machines at Roxborough, the TRHA said it is prepared to introduce a third shift if demand increases, ensuring continued access to high-quality care for all residents.
