Secretary of Health, Wellness, and Social Protection, Dr. Faith BYisreal expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with organisations such as USAID to render assistance to immigrants. She credited the grant to IOM-TT’s program, “Heal, Empower, Rise – Counter Trafficking in Persons,” which aims to enhance safety measures and services for trafficking survivors, elevating their access to and the quality of care, support, and therapy.
Jewel Ali, Head of Office at IOM-TT, urged citizens to provide increased attention and protection to trafficking victims. Ali mentioned that additional gifts for training, counselling, medical supplies, and capacity-building would follow to enhance the well-being of victims.
The IOM spent the week in Tobago educating counsellors and social workers from the Division as well as other stakeholders, including members of law enforcement. The seminars on migration, counter-trafficking, and psychosocial management were all aimed at enhancing the support provided to DHWSP clients and other organizations working with migrants and trafficking victims.
