Crime statistics do not look good

P.D.P. political leader Watson Duke says crime per capita in Tobago is worse than Trinidad.

With a record-breaking 22 murders this year, Progressive Democratic Patriots political leader Watson Duke claims that crime in Tobago is, in fact, worse than in Trinidad. He explained that when comparing homicide figures on a per capita basis, Tobago has a significantly higher rate.

Duke’s comments highlight a critical and often overlooked aspect of crime statistics. By comparing the number of homicides to the respective populations, the data suggests a disproportionate impact of violent crime on the smaller island of Tobago, a trend he believes warrants a more serious and urgent response.
