Victims of Trafficking Process Manual

 

In a significant development for child protection, various agencies, including the Counter Trafficking Unit, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, and the Immigration Division, have signed the Victims of Trafficking Process Manual. 

This initiative aims to enhance the care and protection of children, especially trafficking victims. Sheldon Cyrus, CEO of the Children’s Authority, credits the National Interagency Protocol for Child Abuse Prevention and Management for fostering collaboration. The Victims of Trafficking Process Manual provides a clear pathway for victims, ensuring efficient support. Director of the Counter Trafficking Unit Dr. Samantha Chaitram stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing human trafficking, with the manual offering step-by-step guidelines.

Superintendent Claire Guy-Alleyne and Chief Immigration Officer Vera Persad commend the manual for improving coordination, communication, and prioritizing the welfare of child victims. Persad emphasizes the nation’s commitment to safeguarding all children, regardless of nationality.
