In the aftermath of the freak storm that struck Charlotteville on Tuesday, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine provided updates on the devastation. Augustine explained that Charlotteville’s weather conditions were also experienced by Grenada.
The focus of recovery efforts centered on the lower part of the village, where the majority of the damage occurred from flash floods. The Fire Service and WASA played crucial roles in cleansing the area of mud and slush, while assistance was also provided by TEMA and the TTPS. Acknowledging the urgency of the situation, Chief Secretary Augustine revealed that immediate action was taken, mobilizing a team of approximately 20 unemployed young men to manually clear debris from clogged drains.
Looking ahead, he emphasized the commitment to ensuring the village’s restoration by expressing the intent to address immediate concerns before Christmas. Augustine then commended the dedication of the villagers. The Chief Secretary remains optimistic about the community’s ability to rebound, praising the villagers’ spirit and dedication during this challenging period.
