More Compensation Will Come for Tobago Oil Spill, Assures Senator Laurence Hislop

Senator Laurence Hislop assures more oil spill relief funding will be delivered to the T.H.A.

Scarborough, Tobago – June 17, 2024 – More compensation will come to cover the costs incurred by the Gulfstream oil spill, according to Government Senator Laurence Hislop. He noted the concerns expressed by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and others in Tobago that the initial $50 million allocation is not enough to cover all the costs.

However, Senator Hislop assured that this is just the beginning of the compensation to be issued for the ongoing environmental disaster. His comments aim to reassure stakeholders that additional funding will be made available to support the extensive oil spill cleanup efforts and recovery in Tobago.
