Scarborough, Tobago – February 19, 2024 – Tashia Burris, Secretary for the Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities, and Transport, has responded to concerns raised by Minority Leader Kelvon Morris regarding Tobago’s January tourism numbers. Last Friday, Morris publicly questioned the accuracy of the reported increase in international visitors to Tobago.
Burris defended the data, attributing the positive figures to a successful cruise ship season. She suggested that Morris, in his capacity as a Minority spokesperson, should offer more constructive feedback during his media briefings. This exchange highlights ongoing discussions surrounding tourism statistics and their interpretation in Tobago. View the following clip for more details on the debate over Tobago’s visitor arrivals.
