The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Tobago Division, conducted targeted road safety and DUI enforcement exercises during the Great Race weekend, from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th August.
The operations, led by officers of the Traffic Section, focused on reducing risky driving behaviours and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations. One person was arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI), while several motorists were ticketed for various offences.
A total of ten Fixed Penalty tickets were issued, including five for illegal U-turns, three for failure to wear seatbelts, one for using a mobile device while driving, and one for driving without a Certificate of Insurance. Additionally, eight tickets were issued for illegal windscreen tints and two for traffic sign violations.
Alongside enforcement, officers also engaged with drivers and passengers, promoting safe driving practices and commending those who followed the law. The TTPS Tobago Division reported that all operations were carried out safely and without incident.
