Scarborough, Tobago – January 2024 – Bishop’s High School from Tobago has officially claimed the prestigious title of the Land Settlements Agency’s (LSA) National Secondary Schools Debate champion. This significant victory highlights the exceptional debating talent originating from the sister isle.
The winning team, representing Bishop’s High, comprised dedicated students Melique Charles, Sohiela Makoul, Klavier Simpson, and Tayshaun Joseph. Notably, Klavier Simpson earned the distinguished title of Most Outstanding Debater in the series, recognized for her compelling contributions.
The Tobago team demonstrated superior debating prowess, surpassing formidable finalists from Trinidad, including Presentation College Chaguanas, Naparima Boy’s College, and St. Mary’s College, to secure a comfortable win. This triumph underscores Bishop’s High School’s commitment to fostering critical thinking, research, and public speaking skills, cementing their place at the top of national secondary school debating.
