World Environment Day 2024: Leaders Urge Environmental Stewardship for Future Generations

The government and the T.H.A. urge all citizens to be good stewards of the environment on World Environment Day.

June 6, 2024 – On World Environment Day 2024 (June 5th), a powerful message resonated across Trinidad and Tobago: “We cannot turn back time, but we can grow forests, revive water sources, and restore soils. We are the generation that can make peace with the land.” This was the core message for this year’s global observance.

In a special service recognizing World Environment Day, both the Minister of Planning and Development, Penelope Beckles-Robinson, and Chief Secretary Farley Augustine urged citizens to be good stewards of the environment. Their call emphasized the critical importance of protecting natural resources to ensure that future generations can also enjoy them. This highlights a national commitment to environmental conservation in Trinidad and Tobago.
