MP encourages women in fisheries
October 29, 2024 – In recognition of International Day of Rural Women, which was celebrated on Friday, October 25, 2024, an award ceremony for women in fisheries was held at the Parliamentary Complex in Trinidad. The event was part of the 17 Days of Activism for Rural Women, coordinated by the Network of Rural Women Producers of Trinidad and Tobago, led by President Gia Gasparad.
MP for Tobago East and Minister for the Ministry of Gender and Child Affairs, Ayanna Webster-Roy, delivered a message of encouragement, stating that women can enter male-dominated fields and thrive. She shared that the success of these women can serve as motivation for other young ladies, helping to break stereotypes about women within the industry.
