TTUTA instructs teachers to only report to assigned schools
Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – August 29, 2024 – “Report only to assigned schools!” These were the instructions from the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association (TTUTA) in an internal memo to its teachers. They told its members to report only to the schools assigned by the Teaching Service Commission and not to any alternate locations.
TTUTA President Martin Lum Kin stressed that teachers should ignore any other instructions and report intimidation attempts to the association. The new school term is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 2nd, after the July/August vacation. This strong directive follows a series of protests over delays in medical insurance refunds, which now exceed $34 million. Lum Kin noted that no significant improvements have been made in addressing the claims, which highlights a persistent issue for educators across Trinidad and Tobago.
