TTUTA instructs teachers to only report to assigned schools
Report only to assigned schools! These were the instructions from the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Association in an internal memo to its teachers. They told its members to report only to the schools assigned by the Teaching Service Commission and not to any alternate locations. TTUTA President Martin Lum Kin stressed that teachers should ignore any other instructions and report intimidation attempts to the association. Schools reopen on Monday September 2nd, after the July/August vacation. On August 27th, teachers protested outside the Education Ministry over delays in medical insurance refunds, which now exceed $34 million. This demonstration was TTUTA’s third action, following previous protests at the Finance Ministry and the Chief Personnel Officer’s office. Lum Kin noted that no significant improvements have been made in addressing the claims.
