June 11, 2024 – As World Day Against Child Labour is being celebrated tomorrow, Wednesday, June 12th, Minister of Labour Stephen Mc Clashie says that the nation still faces significant challenges with child labour.
The Labour Minister shared that the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS), conducted by the Central Statistical Office (CSO) in collaboration with UNICEF in the year 2022, highlighted that 4.3% of children between the ages of five and seventeen are involved in child labour in Trinidad and Tobago. This statistic underscores the ongoing efforts needed to combat and eliminate child labour across the country.
