Dr Denise Tsoiafatt-angus Speaks About Tobago’s Carnival
Scarborough, Tobago – The political leader of the Innovative Democratic Alliance (IDA), Dr. Denise Tsoiafatt-Angus, recently voiced her strong opinion on Tobago’s Carnival strategy during an IDA press conference.
Dr. Tsoiafatt-Angus openly chastised the current Tobago House of Assembly (THA) administration for its decision to move the adult mas parade to October, just three weeks before the National Carnival. She suggested that Tobago band leaders should collaborate with their Trinidadian counterparts if they wish to participate in the October Carnival, a move she believes should be legislated for clarity and structure.
Furthermore, Dr. Tsoiafatt-Angus emphasized that competition is essential to generate excellence when it comes to the highly anticipated parade of the bands. Her comments highlight a significant debate within Tobago’s cultural and political spheres regarding the optimal timing and structure for the island’s Carnival festivities, aiming to enhance both participation and performance quality.
