Trinidad and Tobago Under Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert for Heavy Showers and Thunderstorms

July 23, 2025 – The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) issued Adverse Weather Alert #1 (Yellow Level), which was in effect from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. yesterday, Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Forecasters had warned of a high potential for isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms, particularly over hilly areas. These weather conditions were expected to result in gusty winds, which could contribute to choppy seas, posing risks to marine interests. Heavy downpours were also anticipated and could have led to localized street and flash flooding. Additionally, the risk of landslides or landslips was elevated, especially along hillsides and sloping terrain. Residents were urged to take all necessary precautions, including securing loose outdoor items. Motorists, as well as those living in flood or landslide-prone areas, were advised to stay alert and exercise extreme caution. Officials also encouraged the public to remain vigilant about their surroundings and respond promptly to changing weather conditions during this yellow alert period in Trinidad and Tobago.
