March 17, 2025 – Former Deputy Chief Secretary and Tourism Secretary, Tracey Davidson-Celestine, beamed with pride at the opening of the new ANR Robinson International Airport terminal. She was among the hundreds of people present for the historic event. Davidson-Celestine noted that a modern airport capable of accommodating large planes was a frequent request during negotiations with airlines to increase airlift to Tobago. With the new and modern terminal, Davidson-Celestine said the gateway to opportunities for Tobago has now been opened. She also wholeheartedly endorsed the prospect of Sandals returning to the negotiating table. Davidson-Celestine was part of the THA administration that began preparing for the Sandals investment and worked to convince the population of the benefits it would have brought to Tobago. According to Davidson-Celestine, a new airport, along with a Sandals investment, would make it easier to attract new airlift and passengers to fill the first-class cabins on planes—those who are the higher tourism spenders in any destination.
