The Division Of Food Security Enhances Wildlife Management Through BIOREACH Training
Scarborough, Tobago – January 2024 – The Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment, and Sustainable Development recently underwent a two-day Integrated Wildlife Management Training, conducted by the BIOREACH Project in Trinidad and Tobago. This crucial program aimed to bolster the nation’s capacity for environmental protection.
The comprehensive training, featuring esteemed instructors from international organizations, covered both theoretical and practical aspects, including intensive classroom sessions and vital field exercises. Participants included a diverse group of professionals such as Forest Officers, Game Wardens, members of the Fire Service, representatives from the Tobago Reforestation and Watershed Rehabilitation Programme (TRWRP), and local hunters.
The primary goal of this initiative was to enhance the capacity to manage wildfires effectively and promote sustainable forest management practices across the islands. This training underscores the division’s commitment to advancing knowledge and skills for responsible natural resource stewardship.
This initiative marks a crucial step towards fostering a more resilient and ecologically sustainable future for Trinidad and Tobago’s natural resources, ensuring better preparedness against environmental threats.
