Tobago People’s Party Update

Scarborough, Tobago – January 2024 – The Tobago People’s Party (TPP) is currently in the planning stages of its internal elections, according to the party’s interim political leader, THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine.

Speaking with Tobago Updates, Augustine provided an update on the party’s progress, indicating that the next significant step would be the party’s internal elections. He stated that a date for these elections would be set and publicly announced. Prior to the internal elections, a series of cottage meetings and intimate public engagements are planned to rally party members and supporters. While Augustine could not provide specific timelines, he indicated the party is actively preparing for this democratic process.

Chief Secretary Augustine also confirmed that he, along with other TPP members, met for over three hours with supporters at the Shaw Park Complex last Saturday, January 20th, 2024. During this crucial meeting, the party, with legal assistance, meticulously reviewed its entire constitution article by article, culminating in a ratification by vote among those present.

Addressing any misconceptions, Augustine confirmed that the TPP is officially registered with the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC). He noted that the party had been registered for quite some time and had received official acknowledgment from the EBC, solidifying its legal standing in Trinidad and Tobago’s political landscape.
