Tobago MPS Help Pass SOE Extension, Declares TPP Part Of Govt…

Following a marathon parliamentary debate that commenced on Wednesday and concluded in the early hours of Thursday morning at the Red House, the House of Representatives voted 28 to 12 to approve a further three-month extension of the nationwide State of Emergency (SoE).

While the Opposition bench mounted fierce resistance against extending the emergency measures, the Government secured critical legislative momentum through the unified support of Tobago’s parliamentary representatives—Tobago East MP David Thomas and Tobago West MP Joel Sampson—representing the Tobago People’s Party (TPP). Contributing to the high-stakes debate, the Tobago MPs firmly aligned with the administration’s national security strategy, formally declaring the TPP’s partnership with the central Government to tackle transnational crime, border vulnerabilities, and island security challenges.
