Tobago Celebrates 63rd Independence with Family Fun and Community Spirit
On Sunday, August 31st, 2025, Tobago came alive with pride and celebration as the island marked Trinidad and Tobago’s 63rd Independence Anniversary.
The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) hosted a special Family Day that brought together Tobagonians of all ages. The festivities began at sunrise with a vibrant 5K run and walk, encouraging health and unity among participants.
Later, the waters off Tobago’s coast were filled with excitement during the island’s own boat race. While not as grand as the famous Great Race, this event stood out for its inclusiveness—with boats and jet skis competing side by side—delighting spectators along the shoreline.
The Scarborough Esplanade transformed into a lively festival hub, featuring games, cultural performances, delicious food stalls, and entertainment suitable for the entire family. As the day turned to night, the celebrations concluded with a relaxed movie night under the stars, giving families a perfect way to unwind together.
Tobago’s Independence Day celebrations showcased the island’s unity, resilience, and joy—honouring 63 years of nationhood in true island style.
