The Trinidad And Tobago Police Service Reports Reduction In Crime In The Country

Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) held a press briefing yesterday to update citizens on the results of the recent State of Emergency (SOE). The country was placed under the SOE on December 30th last year after police received intelligence about possible gang reprisals.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Curt Simon, revealed the following key statistics from the SOE:

  • 5,092 operations were conducted.
  • 3,561 priority offenders were targeted.
  • 4,038 individuals were arrested.
  • A total of 36,000 searches were carried out.
  • 438 firearms were recovered.

Acting Commissioner of Police, Junior Benjamin, praised the efforts of state agencies during the State of Emergency, highlighting the success of the concerted operations in addressing criminal activity.
