Minister Of Energy Bringing Specialist Help To Tobago To Deal With Oil Spill
Scarborough, Tobago – February 21, 2024 – Minister of Energy and Energy Industries Stuart Young and his team met today with Henry Kevin Teichman, CEO of T&T Salvage LLC, and Clinton Paul Williams, Director of Emergency Response Services, T&T Marine Salvage, Incorporated. They received a high-level briefing on the execution of response efforts targeting the overturned vessel and hydrocarbon discharge off the southern coast of Cove, Tobago.
The specialized response team, comprising a salvage master, naval architect, and ADCI divers with expertise in low to zero-visibility diving and sonar technology, was to be deployed to Tobago immediately to execute the required emergency response. Critical equipment, including dive gear, hydrographic survey equipment, and NOFI Current Busters, was being flown in from the USA and Europe to Tobago to bolster the cleanup.
Minister Young emphasized that the effective recovery of the hydrocarbons and the restoration of Tobago’s coastline are paramount. The technical staff at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries committed to assisting in facilitating all operations for the ongoing oil spill cleanup in Tobago.
