Scarborough market vendors say they are not getting sales for Christmas season.
Scarborough, Tobago – Although the lively sounds of parang echoed through the halls of the Scarborough Market, they did little to lift the spirits of the vendors. With Christmas Day only five days away, most vendors are struggling to achieve the sales needed to make a profit this year.
One vendor lamented that this holiday season has been the toughest they’ve experienced, with sales at their lowest in recent memory. The festive atmosphere at the market contrasts sharply with the financial struggles facing many small business owners.
