Six Venezuelan Nationals Detained Off Cedros Coast for Illegal Entry
August 14, 2025 – The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and the Coast Guard have detained six Venezuelan nationals who allegedly attempted to enter the country illegally on Tuesday night. According to reports, intelligence from the National Radar Center alerted the Coast Guard officers at the Cedros Base to a suspicious pirogue approaching Trinidad’s south-western coast. Around 10:00 p.m., Petty Officer Seecharan, Able Seaman King, and Lead Electrician Adams intercepted the vessel off the coast of Icacos.
The occupants, all foreign nationals, were handed over to officers at the Cedros Police Station, where PC Valdez and his team began investigations. Authorities confirmed the individuals are being processed in accordance with local immigration laws. The TTPS has reiterated that border security requires public cooperation and is urging citizens to report any suspicious maritime or coastal activity to the police. Investigations are continuing.
