The Scarborough General Hospital has entered Emergency Mode for the next 48 hours following an overwhelming influx of patients and strained capacity across its medical and surgical wards. Hospital officials confirmed that both adult medical and surgical wards have reached full capacity, currently housing 33 and 34 patients, respectively. Additionally, 13 patients are awaiting admission in the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department. As a result, all elective surgeries have been suspended until further notice. In response to the situation, efforts are underway to transfer stable patients to the Roxborough Hospital, where limited bed space remains available. The public is being urged to visit the A&E Department only in cases of serious or life-threatening emergencies during this period. Hospital management has expressed gratitude to the public for their patience and cooperation as critical care services are prioritised. The TRHA assured the public that every measure is being taken to manage the temporary but pressing situation effectively.
