Some people recall the attempted coup on July 27, 1990, but few understand the reason behind it. At that time, the country was led by its first non-PNM government, the NAR, which inherited a declining economy and had to make difficult decisions that were unpopular with many. Combined with discontent from the Jamaat al-Muslimeen over their treatment, this led to the violent attempted coup against the government. Reporter Kandace Jackson takes us back.
