Police Recruitment Stage 1 Wraps Up With Tobago Vetting
August 10, 2026 — The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) has concluded the final leg of its nationwide recruitment drive with a comprehensive document verification and screening exercise at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Bacolet, Tobago.

The Bacolet session completed the nationwide intake, which saw close to 10,000 applicants process through regional centres across Trinidad and Tobago:
Documentation Review: Candidates presented their academic qualifications (minimum five CSEC passes, including English), valid driver’s permits, and national identification for on-site validation.
Specialized Unit Oversight: Officers from the Fraud Squad and the Gang Intelligence Unit were stationed throughout the intake area to verify the authenticity of all submitted documents and conduct preliminary background checks.
Commitment Amid Challenges: Many applicants, including a notable contingent of young women, acknowledged apprehension regarding the national crime landscape but expressed a strong sense of civic duty and commitment to upholding law, order, and community safety.
