Buccoo, Tobago – Notably absent from the Tobago West Candidates Debate, hosted by Tobago CivilNet, was Joel Sampson, the TPP’s candidate for Tobago West. Shamfa Cudjoe-Lewis, the PNM’s candidate for the same constituency, addressed Sampson’s absence during a PNM public meeting in Buccoo, which was held immediately after last night’s debate.
Cudjoe-Lewis called out Sampson on the state of sport development on the island and challenged him to confront her directly on the issues, insinuating that his campaign speeches may not be his own words. When Tobago Updates reached out to Joel Sampson for a response regarding his absence from last evening’s debate, he chose not to answer the question and stated that he would give a response on his own platform.
