May 28, 2025 – Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Tobago Chief Secretary Farley Augustine met for over five hours on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to address Tobago’s long-standing development concerns. The talks, joined by government MP Barry Padarath and THA Assemblyman Zorisha Hackett, focused on strengthening the legislative and operational relationship between the Central Government and the Tobago House of Assembly (THA). Key issues discussed included Tobago’s autonomy, tourism, national security, land titles, education infrastructure, and improvements to the air and sea bridges. According to the media release, the meeting marks a new era of collaboration, with both leaders committing to ongoing dialogue and joint efforts to enhance governance and development nationwide.
