Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar has accused Finance Minister Colm Imbert of incompetence and dishonesty regarding the construction of the new ANR Robinson International Airport terminal.
In a statement, Persad-Bissessar claimed that Imbert contradicted himself at a press conference, fumbling with figures and failing to remember key details until after media reports surfaced. She also disputed claims of savings on land acquisition, asserting that the process is ongoing and that funds from a loan were used to cover project cost overruns. Persad-Bissessar called for a criminal investigation into the project and demanded Imbert’s resignation, criticizing the entire Cabinet for allegedly covering up the project’s flaws. The Opposition Leader also blasted Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley for avoiding public scrutiny over the issue.
