Lambeau Fishermen Are Concerned After Unidentified Vessel Is Discovered In The Waters Near Cove, Leaking Oil Into The Sea
Scarborough, Tobago – February 7th, 2024 – An environmental crisis unfolded today as an unidentified vessel, overturned in the waters just outside the Cove Estate, began to leak oil into the sea. The discovery of the vessel was made by vigilant fishermen in Lambeau, while alarming traces of oil were simultaneously noticed on the shores of Roxborough, Belle Garden, and extending down the entire southwest coast of Tobago.
Senior reporter Kandace Jackson and cameraman Judon Joefeild ventured out around midday with Lambeau fishermen to conduct an on-site inspection of the overturned vessel, bringing back this exclusive report. Their observations confirmed the widespread presence of oil, indicating a significant environmental threat to Tobago’s pristine marine and coastal ecosystems.
This rapidly unfolding situation has prompted immediate concern and the initiation of cleanup efforts across the affected areas, as authorities work to assess the full extent of the spill and mitigate its impact.
