In response to the Chief Secretary’s motion calling for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and increased allocations to address crime on the island, Minority Leader Kelvon Morris attributed the ongoing issue to the THA’s negligence in effectively managing the problem. He cited that since the THA took office, it has been responsible for the decline of the construction sector, resulting in many young men being left without employment opportunities. He argued that the rise in criminal activity can be attributed to the THA’s failed policies, alongside the collapse of the construction sector, which left many young men unemployed. He further asserted that the THA, rather than the Minister of National Security, bears primary responsibility for addressing crime on the island.
