Inflation Rate Decreases to 0.3% in Trinidad and Tobago, Lowest in Years

August 19, 2024 – The inflation rate for July 2024 is 0.3%, a decrease from 0.7% in June 2024, according to the Central Statistical Office (CSO). This figure marks a significant drop from 4.7% in July 2023. The CSO reported a 0.2% increase in the all-items index for July, reaching 123.9 points.

The index for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 0.7%, with higher prices for items like chicken and eggs, though some prices, such as pumpkin and tomatoes, fell. Various other categories also saw price increases, including alcoholic beverages and rent, while furnishings and transport saw decreases. This update from the CSO indicates a period of relative price stability, offering a positive outlook for the Trinidad and Tobago economy.
