The Division of Food Security condemns the indiscriminate killing of bull Sharks
Scarborough, Tobago – The Division of Food Security, Natural Resources, the Environment and Sustainable Development has released a statement today strongly condemning the indiscriminate killing of sharks. This follows a shark attack incident that occurred on Friday, 26 April 2024.
While a $10,000 bounty that was initially issued on sharks was subsequently recalled, the Division noted with concern that fishermen are still killing sharks indiscriminately. The statement underscores the importance of protecting marine life and highlights that such actions are detrimental to the island’s marine ecosystem.
