Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – The Cabinet has approved increased funding for unsponsored steelbands and steelpan players to support Carnival 2025.
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts stated that this funding boost reaffirms the government’s commitment to preserving the steelpan, Trinidad and Tobago’s National Musical Instrument. The increase aims to enhance participation in Panorama and foster greater inclusivity in the steelband community. Minister of Culture and the Arts, Randall Mitchell, stated that the government values the contribution of pan to the society of Trinidad and Tobago and wants to ensure it remains an integral part of the culture.
