Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago – The Trinidad and Tobago Met Service has issued a hot spell warning on yellow alert, effective from today until Monday, September 23rd.
According to the Met Service, over the next five days, daily maximum temperatures will likely reach or exceed 34 °C in Trinidad and 33 °C or greater in Tobago. The hottest time of day is between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Maximum temperatures higher than 34 °C are likely in cities and built-up areas. The Met Service noted that while the country has been experiencing hot days, the criteria for a Hot Spell, defined as five consecutive hot days, is likely to be reached or exceeded in the coming days, although rainfall events may provide brief relief from hot conditions. Warm nights are also likely.
