In anticipation of World AIDS Day on December 1st, 2023, the Office of the Prime Minister’s CAST Division is gearing up to host an empowering workshop aimed at raising awareness and combating stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS.
This year’s World AIDS Day workshop, themed “Let the Community Lead,” emphasizes the pivotal role of community-driven initiatives in the ongoing battle against HIV and AIDS. Corporate Communication Officer Cherish Dacon highlighted the workshop’s inclusive nature, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together. The event aims to educate participants about HIV and AIDS, strategies to combat stigma, and ways to support individuals living with the virus, while fostering stronger bonds within communities.
Leading the workshop will be Medical Doctor Nathaniel Duke and advocate Deborah Williams, both of whom bring unique perspectives to the table. Their sessions are designed to deepen public understanding of HIV and AIDS and encourage proactive health decisions.
Administrative Assistant Delsye Nancis provided insights into the workshop’s structure, emphasizing its focus on engaging young people. The workshop plans to involve primary and secondary schools, alongside extensive outreach through social media, ensuring broad community participation.
With education, collaboration, and community involvement at its core, the World AIDS Day workshop aims to facilitate open dialogue, dispel myths, and promote safe and healthy behaviors. Attendees are encouraged to wear red in solidarity with the initiative.
The workshop is scheduled for tomorrow, December 1st, 2023, from 10 AM to 2 PM. It promises to be an enlightening event aimed at empowering communities to take an active role in combating HIV and AIDS.
