Lambeau fishermen claim Gulfstream oil spill is causing fish to be scarce, crippling their livelihoods.
Scarborough, Tobago – Fishermen in Lambeau are claiming that fish have been scarce since the Gulfstream oil spill occurred on February 7th. This concern comes amidst authorities’ reluctance to admit that the oil spill has had a major negative impact on marine life.
In the meantime, those responsible for the environmental disaster remain elusive, and it is the fishermen in Lambeau whose losses continue to mount. In a special report supported by the Caribbean Climate Justice Journalism Fellowship, a joint venture of Climate Tracker and the Open Society Foundations, Kandace Jackson explores the full impact of the oil spill on the marine environment.
