Chief Secretary Farley Augustine is calling for greater political maturity, restraint, and national unity amid heightened racial rhetoric and political tensions across the country. Speaking following an emergency multi-stakeholder summit convened by the Tobago Faith-Based Council at the Masjid Al Tawbah in Lowlands, Augustine expressed deep concern that divisive commentary in the national political arena threatens social stability, investor confidence, and the tourism economy.
The meeting was convened by Tobago Muslim Community leader and council spokesperson Kameel Ali, bringing together THA Finance Secretary Petal-Ann Roberts, representatives from the Tobago Hindu Society, Christian denominations, civil society groups, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rishi Singh, and Senior Superintendent Rodhill Kirk.
