The Department of Marine Resources and Fisheries (DMRF) of the Division, Tobago Unified Fisherfolk Association (TUFA) and All Tobago Fisherfolk Association (ATFA) met with representatives of BG International and BP Exploration Operating Company Limited to discuss the impact their latest seismic survey will have on have Tobago fishers.
The companies applied to the Environmental Management Authority (EMA), CEC 6773/2023, to seek approval for the conduct of a 3D seismic survey in Blocks 25a, 25b and 27 in the Deepwater of the East Coast Marine Area.
The meeting took place at the Buccoo Integrated Facility yesterday, Thursday 18th January, 2024.
The Division remains committed to fostering open dialogue among stakeholders to ensure a transparent process contributing to the sustainable development and well-being of Tobago’s natural resources.
