Online Company Registration Rolled Out

Attorney General Reginald Armour recently announced a significant leap forward for business in Trinidad and Tobago, as thousands of companies embrace a new electronic registry system. This initiative aims to greatly enhance the ease of doing business and bolster T&T’s commitment to its international anti-corruption obligations.

The system, known as the Computer Online Registration System (CROS), was operationalized following the unanimous passage of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Registrar General, Companies, Registration of Business Names, and Non-Profit Organisations) Bill, 2023, by the Senate.

Armour provided impressive statistics from the period of February 1st to November 21st, 2023. During this time, the system recorded over 2,500 new company registrations, 159 non-profit organizations, 5,600 business registrations, and more than 50,700 individual user accounts.

Addressing potential concerns about cyber threats, the Attorney General dismissed them by highlighting ongoing cybersecurity efforts. These initiatives involve collaboration with Estonian technicians, ensuring local ownership and robust development of the CROS platform. This digital transformation is set to streamline processes for businesses and organizations across Trinidad and Tobago.
