Attorney General Reginald Armour, announced that thousands of companies are embracing a new electronic registry system to enhance the ease of doing business and fulfill TT’s international anti-corruption obligations. The Senate unanimously passed the Miscellaneous Provisions (Registrar General, Companies, Registration of Business Names, and Non-Profit Organisations) Bill, 2023, operationalizing the computer online registration system (CROS). Armour that among the registered were over 2,500 new companies, 159 non-profit organizations, 5,600 business registrations, and over 50,700 individual user accounts from February 1st to November 21st, 2023.
He dismissed concerns about cyber threats, noting there are ongoing cybersecurity efforts in collaboration with Estonian technicians for local ownership and development of CROS.
