September 4, 2025- A grassroots initiative to improve Tobago’s public transport infrastructure is gaining momentum. The “Adopt a Bus Shed” programme, spearheaded by the Division of Settlements, Public Utilities and Rural Development (DSPURD), has reached a key milestone in its mission to upgrade bus shelters across the island.
The programme invites local businesses, community organisations, and individuals to take responsibility for maintaining and beautifying bus sheds in their areas. This collaborative approach not only enhances the commuter experience but also supports the Division’s broader goal of revitalising public spaces and fostering civic pride.
With growing community involvement, the initiative is being hailed as a model for sustainable, people-centred development.
