A severe telecommunications and data network disruption across Northeast Tobago has triggered an immediate multi-agency emergency response, as disaster coordinators, utility teams, and major service providers mobilize to restore vital connectivity to severed coastal communities.
The outage knocked out cellular reception, fixed landlines, and high-speed broadband services across several eastern villages—including Charlotteville, Speyside, Delaford, and Roxborough. The blackout disrupted banking and point-of-sale systems, hindered health centre communications, and prompted the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) to activate contingency VHF radio links and mobile emergency response assets to maintain emergency dispatch and community safety.
