Tobago’s Farmers Learn Techniques To Mitigate The Effects Of Climate
Scarborough, Tobago – [January] 2024 – While climate change may seem a distant concept to some, as a small island developing state, Tobago is acutely vulnerable to rising global temperatures and more extreme weather patterns. These changes are directly impacting agricultural jobs and what farmers are able to produce on the island.
To address these critical challenges, the Argyle Farmers Association, in collaboration with technocrats from the MarVista Institute for Agriculture, Training, and Development, recently hosted an all-day workshop for farmers at the Shaw Park Complex. The intensive session focused on equipping local farmers with methods and strategies to make their crops more resilient in the face of a changing climate.
This initiative underscores a proactive effort to protect Tobago’s food security and support its agricultural sector against environmental shifts, ensuring sustainable livelihoods for farmers and continuous food production.
