Central government to blame for economy & FOREX issues

Scarborough, Tobago – Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has instructed Minority Leader Kelvon Morris that the central government is responsible for the economy’s decline and issues with accessing foreign exchange.

Augustine was responding to criticisms raised by Morris during the debate on the re-prioritized budget for fiscal 2025. Morris had claimed that the current administration is to blame for Tobago’s economy not growing as it should. The exchange highlights the ongoing political tensions and differing perspectives between the THA and the Minority Council regarding the island’s economic performance and its relationship with the central government.
